Toward a geometry of irrationality of Zeta(3)
ABSTRACT
Dijkgraaf-Fuji-Manabe discovered a surprising relation between topological recursion and 3-manifold topology. Mysterious appearances of real 3-fold are observed on many fronts. The first part of this talk will be devoted to presenting a particular case of topological recursion. I will present unexpected results on moduli spaces of stable curves from this example. In the next hour, we switch the topic to Apéry's irrationality proof of Zeta(3) and the geometry behind the scene. Here, 3-fold integrals play a key role connecting the irrationality and geometry. I then present a still not-understood analogy between the first part of the talk and the second part. Of course an analogy from Gromov-Witten theory is obvious. What is not is through the concept of "opers" and their counterpart under the Geometric Langlands Correspondence.
